Joydev Bala, born in West Bengal, India, earned his B.V.A. from the Indian College of Arts & Draftsmanship, Kolkata, under Rabindra Bharati University in 2000. Over the years, he has presented several solo exhibitions at prestigious venues including the Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata (2008, 2010, 2012, 2016), Taj Bengal Hotel, Kolkata (2009, 2012, 2017, 2018), Hotel Hindustan International, Kolkata (2011, 2013, 2019), ITC Sonar Bangla, Kolkata (2015, 2016), Novotel Hotel, Kolkata (2023), City Taj, Kolkata (2023), Habitat Center, Delhi (2019), and other notable spaces across India. He has also participated in over 100 group exhibitions at renowned institutions such as ICCR (Kolkata), Lalit Kala Akademi (Delhi, Bangalore), Birla Academy of Art & Culture (Kolkata), Chitrakala Parishath (Bangalore), Alliance Française (Dhaka), Russian Centre for Science & Culture (Kolkata, Dhaka), as well as various international platforms in Bangladesh and beyond, between 2002 and 2023. His artistic journey also includes active participation in national and international art workshops and camps, including Kala Kumbha at NGMA, Bhubaneswar (2021), Chikmagalur National Art Camp, Bengaluru (2020), Apar Bangla Opar Bangla at Taj Hotel, Kolkata (2010), among many others since 2000. His works form part of prestigious private and corporate collections in India—spanning Kolkata, Hyderabad, Delhi, and Mumbai—and internationally in Singapore, the USA, Dubai, Israel, and Bangladesh.
